ML Executuives Supplies Complete Audio Package for Squeeze UK Tour

ML Executives is proud to have supported Squeeze on the UK leg of the Join The Dots tour.

The tour began on October 28th with three warmup shows in Canterbury, Exmouth and Pontardawe. It continued into November with a four-week run across the UK. The tour finished with a sold out show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

Production Manager and Front of House Engineer Des Jabir elected to use an L-Acoustics dV-DOSC loudspeaker system. The system was powered by Lab.Gruppen amplifiers and controlled using Lake processors. Mike Hackman was supplied by ML Executives as the System Technician for the Squeeze tour. Mike was also the Front of House Engineer for the support band Nine Below Zero.

The main touring loudspeaker system was made up of 24 L-Acoustics dV-DOSC, six L-Acoustics ARCS and six L-Acoustics SB28 subwoofers. The system was complemented by eight EAW JF80 loudspeakers to act as fills where necessary.

Des chose to use and Avid Profile as the front of house mixing console. The small footprint of these systems makes them ideal for this type of theatre tour where any seats lost to larger consoles equates to reduced ticket sales.

Monitors

Peter Thompson, Squeeze’s Monitor Engineer, requested a Soundcraft Vi6 console for monitor duties. The higher than average bus count and quick access to 32 input faders on the top layer make this an ideal choice for a monitor desk. Gary Sylvester was put forward by ML Executives as the Monitor Technician. Gary also acted as Monitor Engineer for the support band Nine Below Zero.

Squeeze had requested a mix of loudspeakers and in ear monitors for their use, as had the support band. To fulfill this requirement ML Executives supplied six d&b Audiotechnik M4 and two M2 wedge monitors with D12 amplification. Alongside this was 12 channels of Shure PSM1000 in ear monitoring system.

ML Executives also supplied four channels of Shure UHF-R wireless microphones with UR1M body-packs as wireless guitar systems. Wireless frequency coordination was carried out at the ML Executives office.

The selection of microphones used was drawn from the pool of usual suspects and included; Shure Beta 91A’s and Audix D6’s (kick drum), Shure Beta 98AMP’s (congas & bongos) Shure KSM27 (Glen’s guitar amp) and Radial J48 and JDI stereo DIs all of which is available from ML Executives’ stock.

Royal Albert Hall

The UK leg of the Join The Dots tour concluded in the Royal Albert Hall in London ont he 6th of November. As this was the largest venue on the Squeeze tour, ML Executives was asked to complement the touring production with further equipment.

This included the addition of a 22 box L-Acoustics V-DOSC system complete with dV-DOSC down-fills and amplifiers, L-Acoustics 115FM loudspeakers as out fill and all necessary extension cabling and rigging to facilitate the Royal Albert Hall’s unique architectural quirks.

For the Royal Albert Hall show Squeeze chose to add the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS choir to perform several songs. ML Executives supplied an array of microphones and a Yamaha QL1 mixing console to submix the choir for both the monitor and front of house engineers.
