L-Acoustics KARA loudspeakers are now available to hire from ML Executives. L-Acoustics KARA
The L-Acoustics KARA is a 2-way, bi-amplified line array element. Each unit features dual 8 inch neodymium drivers and a 3 inch neodymium compression driver. The low frequency components are mounted in a bass reflex tuned enclosure. The high frequency driver is coupled to a DOSC waveguide. The arrangement of the components gives a symetrical horizontal dispersion of 110 degrees. The vertical dispersion can be designed to suit the required coverage area using the integral rigging components to adjust the systems directivity.
Using the L-Acoustics M-BUMP flying frame, up to 24 KARA can be suspended. Alternativley a mix of KARA and SB18 subwoofer elements can be combined within a flown array. This provides improved low frequency response down to 32 hertz from an extended line source. In this format it is typically suggested that one SB18 is provided for every three KARA. In another format, flown KARA can be combined with SB18’s or SB28’s on the floor to form a more traditional looking line array system.
Where the option to fly the system is not available, KARA can be stacked using the M-BUMP. This provides a high quality solution in smaller venues and means KARA can be used for a front fill application within larger systems. Up to nine KARA can be stacked on the M-BUMP. If using SB18’s, a combination of six KARA and two SB18’s can be stacked.
Weighing only 26kg per cabinet, the system is highly efficent both on rigging weight and transport weight. The loudspeakers are packaged in sets of three in custom flightcases. Secured in the flightcases in the vertical position a single technician can fly a whole array in a matter of minutes. A stack of three can comfortably be lifted from the floor to the flightcase by two technicians.
LA-RAK 11 & LA12X Amplifiers
The L-Acoustics KARA system is powered using one of L-Acoustics Amplified controllers: the LA8, LA4X or LA12X. ML Executives has recently taken delivery of a further batch of LA12X amplifiers, which have been packaged into industry standard LA-RAK II’s.
Each LA12X amplifier has four channels with independent digital signal processing (DSP). Controlled over ethernet using L-Acoustics’ LA-Network Manager, the amplified controllers can be programmed to power any of the loudspeakers in the L-Acoustics portfolio. As a bi-amplified cabinet, each KARA requires two channels of amplification. An LA12X amplifier is capable of powering three KARA in parallel per pair of amplifier channels. This means six KARA can be powered off one LA12X amplifier, or 18 KARA can be powered off one LA-RAK II.
