The Valley

On the 5th of December 1992, Charlton Athletic played their first game back at The Valley football ground against Portsmouth F.C. On the 9th of December 2017, Charlton Athletic again played Portsmouth F.C. at the valley and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the club returning to their home ground. The ground has seen major development over the last 25 years, including the installation of a public address system, now maintained by ML Executives.

As part of the celebrations on the 9th of December, additional celebratory entertainment was added including ‘The Winning Tenor’ Martin Toal who performed three songs before the match.

To facilitate this, ML Executives supplemented the installed equipment at the valley with Shure UHF-R wireless microphones, Shure PSM1000 wireless in ear monitors and a Yamaha QL1 sound console.

Back To the Valley Dinner

On the 10th of December a celebratory dinner was held in the North stand lounge at The Valley. This saw over 400 guests including former Charlton Athletic players, directors and staff and featuring a Q & A session with Alan Curbishley, Simon Webster & Colin Walsh. This event also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Charlton Athletic Community Trust and proceeds from the evenings fundraising activities will go towards the valuable work of the trust in the community.

ML Executives supplied the sound, lighting and video systems for this event. The audio system was controlled by a Yamaha QL1 with wireless and wired microphones by Shure. The sound system was based around L-Acoustics ARCS and SB28s powered by L-Acoustics LA12X’s. This was complemented by a number of d&b Audtiotechnik M4’s.

The lighting system utilised a selection of ETC profile fixtures for front light of the stage and 12 wireless uplighters to add colour and themeing to the room.

The video system complemented the rooms existing displays with an additional eight large format LED display. These were used to display content produced especially for the event as well as historic photographs and the output from cameras focused on the stage allowing viewers up and down the 80m long room to see the events on stage.
